Lady Liberty and the Crisis in the Bahamas

Nothing elucidates this country’s spirit of compassion more than does Lady Liberty’s “Give me your tired, your poor” – and it was in that spirit that Score Academy answered the call of need by rapidly collecting supplies for Bahamian citizens whose homes and businesses were destroyed by Hurricane Dorian.

We had only 36 hours to pull off collecting the supplies so that they could be delivered by Callum Parrott, one of our students’ parents, who was taking his family’s boat to Grand Bahama to deliver supplies. We collected water, nonperishable food, diapers, flashlights, bedding and more. We were told that even though conditions on the dock there were chaotic, all of the supplies were successfully unloaded and delivered directly to families in need.

Thank you to the Parrotts and to everybody who pitched in and made this venture a success.

Kudos, also to our NHS/NJHS chapters for raising and donating $120, which was donated via this link,  http://www.nabmiami.org/donate/, through which you can also donate to help the over 70,000 people in the Bahamas that are homeless and need all of the help they can get.
